Signing a PDF Should Not Be This Complicated

Someone sends you a contract, a lease, or a consent form. They need it signed and sent back. Sounds simple, right? But if you have ever tried to do this, you know the drill: download the file, print it, sign with a pen, scan it back, and email the scan. Or pay for an app you will use twice a year.

There is a much easier way. You can sign any PDF directly in your browser, on any device, in under a minute. No printing, no scanning, no app to install.

How to Sign a PDF Online

This works the same way whether you are on a Mac, a Windows PC, an iPhone, an iPad, or an Android phone. The tool runs in your browser, so the device does not matter.

Step 1: Open the Sign Tool

Go to propdfsuite.com/tools/sign. You do not need to create an account.

Step 2: Upload Your PDF

Drag the document into the upload area or tap to browse your files. On iPhone, you can upload directly from your Files app or iCloud Drive.

Step 3: Create Your Signature

You have three options:

  • Draw it. Use your mouse, trackpad, or finger (on a touchscreen) to write your signature. This gives the most natural, handwritten look.
  • Type it. Type your name and choose from several handwriting style fonts. This is fast and looks clean.
  • Upload an image. If you already have a photo of your signature on a white background, you can upload it directly.

Step 4: Place and Resize

Your signature appears on the document. Drag it to the right spot, resize it to fit the signature line, and adjust if needed. You can also add the date, your initials, or text annotations on the same page.

Step 5: Download the Signed PDF

When everything looks right, download the signed document. The signature is embedded directly into the PDF, which means anyone who opens the file will see it. No special software needed on their end.

Is an Electronic Signature Legally Valid?

Yes. In the United States, electronic signatures are legally binding under the ESIGN Act (2000). In the European Union, the eIDAS regulation provides the same protection. Most countries around the world have adopted similar legislation.

For everyday documents like contracts, NDAs, offer letters, lease agreements, and consent forms, an electronic signature carries the same legal weight as ink on paper.

Tips for a Clean Signature

  • Use a stylus on tablets. If you are signing on an iPad or tablet, a stylus gives you much better control than your finger.
  • Sign slowly. It sounds obvious, but rushing your signature on a trackpad produces wobbly lines. Slow, deliberate strokes look much better.
  • Save your signature. If you create a free account, ProPDFSuite saves your signature so you can reuse it on future documents with one click.

What Else Can You Do After Signing?

Once your document is open in the editor, you are not limited to just adding a signature. You can also add text fields, dates, checkboxes, and images. This is handy for filling out forms that were designed for print.

If you need to send the same document to multiple people for their signatures, create a free account and use the signature request feature. You upload the document once, mark where each person needs to sign, and they receive an email with a link to sign online.

Get Started

Next time someone sends you a PDF to sign, skip the print and scan routine. Open the sign tool, add your signature, and send it back in under a minute.
